Becoming Maya
the 5 steps of liberation
Becoming Maya
Step 1 and 2: Hungry and Itchy
(Chains of the Flesh)
I’m hungry,
I’m meat and wine,
Vanilla ice cream,
Look, a nice smooth warm piece of skin,
Lusty curvature,
I’m longing for touch,
Unioning,
I eat,
I unioned,
Thirst no more,
Hunger no more,
—
Boring Sunday afternoon when you have done it all, seen it all, killing time painfully, then my eyes open.
What if, what’s that, how come, where to, when, who,
Questions fill my mind, questions I now seek, at ease in my skin.
Agatha Christie, all day, time passes painlessly,
Escaping into Netflix’s realms, scrolling down my life,
Trapped in the high-tech mind prison,
But still, my heart aches, all I like but I love not,
Tired, I found my magic treasure, Love,
Pulling my whole galaxy of the self into it like a black hole,
But a black hole of light,
Looking for the rare pearl on the creation’s necklace,
The shiny piece of art that will bring me awe and ecstasy,
Blinded by beauty, that’s what I want.
—
Nothing was ever enough for me on the ladder of desires.
From the first step of my insatiable stomach
to the second of my passionate eyes
pulsing and sending moist and warm shivers
through my whole body
full of the mist
of blazing itches
Step 3 Poetry and Stories
(The Mind’s Traps)
I found solace in stories on the third floor
satisfying my glowing mind-omens
in imaginary universes
where I, too, was a hero.
Step 4 Love
(The Heart Escapes)
Until I fell in love with the silver thread of water,
with the sound of the mountain river whispering in my heart.
Love was everything.
The one who filled my heart with sacred nectar.
Step 5 Godliness
(Freedom of the Sky)
And in the end,
on the fifth step,
I reached the mountaintop where desire ends
and the infinite sky begins;
the sky from which you can fly,
transformed into fresh air.
Breath.
—
From body to heart through the mind,
I find beauty,
I find God,
He’s everywhere,
Now, I need no more
No more is enough.
The sky is enough.
—
Uninterrupted travel in the territory of wonders,
This world is my whole pearl,
I put it as my earring,
As my soles.
I’m the vapor of the sky clouds,
I’m the ray of sunset light passing through the trees in the darkness of the forest,
I’m the fresh breeze passing when there is no wind,
I’m the odor of the sea,
The cracking of the sand under the feet,
Breathing waves of ocean crashing onto the shore,
I’m the play of the child,
I’m the strike of imagination in the writer’s mind,
The melody coming to the deaf ears of Beethoven.
—
I’m all, not needing anything,
Because I’m everything,
Maya.
Ecstasy.
